The aims of the P&C Sustainability and Environment Committee are to:
- Provide a forum for parents to discuss ways to improve the school’s physical environment in line with sustainability principles and where possible and give support to student-led environmental initiatives.
- Provide an opportunity for parents to help connect the school with the community and vice versa, enabling the school to increase its profile through community collaboration, and student inclusion.
- The P&C Sustainability and Environment Committee will also monitor the impacts of the estimated 8 years of construction for the Western Harbour Tunnel and Warringah Freeway Upgrade adjacent to our school. There will be 1000’s of extra trucks on local roads each day, increased exhaust fumes, construction dust and noise. As a committee we would like to work with the students, community and Transport for NSW to ensure the safety of our children when travelling to and from school and support clean air initiatives. We also want to create an environment that maximises conditions for student learning while at school.
The Committee is looking for enthusiastic parents, particularly those with a risk management background and those with report writing/grant application experience, to assist sustainability/environment initiatives within the school.
If any parents have contacts with community events or causes which the students may be interested in supporting, please raise with the Committee for discussion.
